This is a test site
We still need a full independent accessibility audit before launch. This page explains what we have built and the problems we already know about.
What you should be able to do
- use the site with a keyboard;
- see a clear focus marker around the item you are using;
- skip repeated menus and follow clear headings;
- zoom in without losing information;
- understand information without relying on colour or icons;
- read scores and status information in words and numbers;
- save and return to longer forms;
- reduce motion through your device settings;
- find clear error messages and ways to fix them.
Make the site easier to use
You can use your browser to zoom in or make text larger. Your device can also increase contrast, reduce motion or read the page aloud. The site is designed to work with those settings.
If a page still does not work, email us. We can help you use another route.
Help with a mediation case
Tell us if an accessibility problem stops you taking part. We can give you more time, use a different contact method or provide staff help. You do not need to share more health information than is needed.
Your request stays private. It does not affect a venue score or either person's position in a case.
How we test
We test with a keyboard, screen readers, zoom, high contrast, reduced motion and automated accessibility tools. We test the main tasks on phones and computers.
Automated tools cannot find every problem. Manual testing and an independent audit are still needed.
Problems we know about
- The test site has not had its final independent audit.
- We cannot control the accessibility of other websites that we link to.
- Files uploaded by users may not be accessible. Ask us for an accessible description if you need one.
- Some wide data tables need sideways scrolling on a small screen. They keep their headings and labels.
Tell us about a problem
Email accessibility@bars.co.uk. We aim to reply within two working days and give you a useful update within ten working days.
If the problem affects a mediation deadline, include the case reference. Do not email your secure link or private evidence.
Before the live site launches
We will review this statement against the Equality Act 2010 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 in Northern Ireland. We will also add the full details for complaints and enforcement.
