Badge and widget terms
These rules keep each Bars.co.uk Responsible Community Venue Standard result clear and accurate when it appears on another website or in print.
What you may use
You may use the badge, website widget or print certificate that we supply for the named venue. Use the live record link for websites. Link every badge to the venue's Bars.co.uk check page.
Keep the alternative text, result type, score, year, end date and source wording. They help people understand what the badge means.
Do not change the claim
Do not edit, crop or hide part of the badge. Do not show a different score, result type, year or end date.
Do not call a self-certified result independently audited, government certified, approved by the Food Standards Agency, guaranteed safe or guaranteed genuine.
Keep food hygiene information separate
The badge and widget show the optional Bars.co.uk venue standard. They do not replace the separate official food hygiene rating. Do not present them as a Food Standards Agency product.
Privacy and problem reports
Do not add tracking that makes it look as if Bars.co.uk collected visitor information. Keep the visible bars.co.uk/report link with every website badge and printed QR code. It opens our free mediation service for that venue.
Never publish a private report, the reporter's identity or their evidence. Bars.co.uk may only publish a short record of how a report was handled, or an outcome that both sides approved, under our privacy rules.
Updates and end dates
Use the live badge or widget link. It updates when a result is renewed, paused, withdrawn, corrected or expired, without changing your website code.
A downloaded badge for a named year is a saved copy. Remove or replace it when the result is no longer current.
